26in. nitro chopperlump barrels with matt sight rib (previously tapped and re-plugged) with open sights and two folding leaf sights, marked for 100, 200 and 300 yards, ramp-mounted bead fore-sight with flip-up moonsight, the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND STREET. LONDON.', treble-grip action with hidden third bite, removable striker discs, toplever engraved 'MODELE DE LUXE', elongated top-strap, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, hand-detachable lockplates, cocking lever return studs, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, chequered articulated front trigger, rolled-edge triggerguard, the action, lockplates and furniture fully engraved with bold scrolling acanthus interspersed with mythical beasts, serpents and lizards, the underside with a Green Man and a cartouche inscribed 'ROYAL HAMMERLESS EJECTOR', retaining some colour-hardening, 15in. highly-figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, sling swivels, steel pistolgrip-cap with trap engraved with a further Green Man, 7/8in. leather covered recoil pad, weight 10lb. 6oz., in a modern brass-cornered leather case with Holland & Holland trade label

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the rifle was completed as a '.450/400 Model de Luxe hammerless ejector rifle' with '26in. barrels, treble grip, hand detachable locks, top lever and auto safety, pistol hand and cap box, cheekpiece, long top strap, standard + 2 leaves, chequered butt, loops for sling'. The date of completion was 29th November 1922 and the rifle was made for 'Barwani'.

The Maharana of the Princely state of Barwani at this time was Capt. HH Maharana Sir Ranjit Singhji II Bahadur (born 19th October 1893, died 10th October 1946)
